ADID Care
Emad Elmaoued never thought he would be running a business providing disability services and support to the developmentally impaired community of New Mexico.
An alumni of the University of New Mexico, he earned his bachelors in biology and chemistry. Previous to purchasing the business, he was a teaching assistant at the University of New Mexico for three years. As owner of Gigateks from 2010-2021, which was a company that maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, system software, applications software and all configurations. However, when the opportunity arose to purchase ADID Care, it called to him. He acquired the business in 2017 with an SBA 7(a) loan.
ADID Care provides many services to the developmentally impaired community of New Mexico. These various services include Supported Living, Family Living, Community Support, In-Home Support, Non-medical Transport, and Adult Nursing, primarily funded through the Developmental Disability Waiver Program, which provides funding to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Operating 12 single-family residences with nursing staff assistance, ADID Care aims to empower individuals with special needs, advocating for inclusivity and independence to receive services and support in their homes or communities rather than in institutional settings.
Under his leadership, ADID Care has expanded and increased the level of care as well as efficiency. With a $1,550,000 SBA loan through B:Side and Nusenda Credit Union, ADID Care was able to purchase a 12,258 square foot building. The expansion enables them to occupy a new building to establish a Dayhab Center and accommodate administrative staff, with plans to create 30-50 full-time jobs in the next two years.
With his technical background, Emad paved the way to Electronic Health Records (EHR), allowing ADID Care to transition completely to electronic documentation. This has further allowed a greater level of transparency for individuals’ guardians and greater level of care.
Employees have also seen the benefits. ADID Care is leading the industry in pay, one of highest in the state, along with comprehensive benefits. They always seek to promote from within, enabling employees to increase their skills and reducing employee turnover in an industry where experienced employees are often difficult to attain.
The mission of the business is to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs and their families by providing comprehensive support, fostering inclusivity, promoting independence, and advocating for equitable opportunities. Emad is driven by a commitment to empower individuals of all abilities to reach their fullest potential, nurturing a compassionate and inclusive community and advancing awareness and understanding of the unique challenges and strengths of those with special needs. This comes with its own rewards. As Emad says, “I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. It is incredibly rewarding.”
