Advocating on Behalf of Small Businesses
We often hear the refrain, “small businesses are the backbone of the American economy.”
As an active Certified Development Company (CDC) in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, we are on the front lines and can attest to the reality of this statement. Because of the work we do, the CDC industry has long been supportive of efforts to streamline and simplify the programs we deliver so that we can serve our small businesses in the most efficient way possible.
Marie Peters, B:Side Fund Director, and Laurel Walk, Chief Lending Officer, traveled to Washington D.C. the week of March 20th. There they met with our Representatives and Senators to shed light on the importance of the SBA programs and the benefits it has on the small business community. Marie and Laurel had an action-packed week of seven total meetings with Senate and Congressional Members in addition to attending the Senate Small Business Committee hearing.
Aside from days when travel was restricted due to the pandemic, our team has made a trip out to D.C. to advocate on behalf of the small businesses for over a decade.
