Land Ark RV, LLC.

Brian and Joni Buzarde dreamed of having their own tiny home that would allow them to have freedom of location and flexibility for their family. Then they saw what was on the market. Nothing seemed quite right; so they designed their own. With backgrounds in architecture and marketing, the power-duo built a home that could travel but still feel comfortable and luxurious when stationed. Now, they have taken their dream (and prototypes) and turned it into a thriving business: Land Ark RV. By designing, building, and selling these high end travel trailers they share their passion with others who also enjoy good design even in small spaces.

In 2021, they began searching for a business location in the mountains of Colorado. By working with partner lenders Vectra Bank and B:Side Capital, they were able to utilize the SBA 504 loan program to purchase commercial real estate for their shop in Rifle, Colorado.  The location on the West Slope provides the space they need and a talented workforce of skilled craftsmen in the area. Their homes can be used as vacation homes, guest houses or even as a primary residence. Read on to learn more about Brian and Joni’s unique journey…

What have been some of the most rewarding parts of owning your business?

The three biggies are the freedom to be able to support our family and provide an avenue for our team members to support theirs, and getting to do something everyday that we're passionate about. We plan to grow significantly, and the best part about relocating to Rifle has been getting the high quality team members that now work with us.

What have been some challenges?

Adversity has been constant but the buckets they mostly boil down to are capital and cash flow, logistics, supply chains and workforce. Our arks cost a lot to build and they require collaboration from very skilled tradesmen. It's a tough business to launch.

How did you find out about the loan program or B:Side Capital?

We worked with Vectra Bank who reached out to B:Side Capital. We also worked with B:Side Capital (formerly Colorado Lending Source) years ago when we tried to purchase the RV park in Marble, Colorado. That ultimately didn't happen but we had a great experience then as well. Both B:Side and Vectra made the process as smooth as possible.

How did you choose your business location?

This area is where many of the elite tradesmen, who work in Aspen, live. Our facility is in an industrial neighborhood, a short distance from I-70. The shop is about twice the size of what we were renting. We're familiar with the area and close to places that are special to us. The building also happened to be the only one available in the state that was at a feasible price for us. There's the right mix of amenities here while still maintaining a rural feel. The people we meet here are great! Many pieces aligned to make this a no-brainer for us to pursue.

How would you describe your company culture?

We are independent, respectful, light-hearted and family oriented. We all have kids and plenty of responsibility at work and at home, so everyone we bring on is A-team.

How are you reaching new heights with your business?

Our goal is to build a brand that becomes an American icon. We really care about being proud of everything we send out the door.
